Willis, United States Army
by Cathy ten Broeke

“The Army diagnosed my bi-polar disorder, but didn’t treat it - gave me a general discharge and kicked me to the curb. They cut their losses. Easier to get rid of me than to treat me. I wanted to make the military my career. I have tried to keep working to keep a roof over my head, but it isn’t always possible. I am homeless now. Veteran or no veteran, no one should be homeless. We are the richest nation on earth. Why wouldn’t we spend a little to help the few who fall between the cracks?”
