One of the challenges facing veterans is that of rebuilding community after returning from service. Facilities such as the 153 Veterans Administration Medical Centers (VAMC) nationwide provide both health care services and a sense of community over treatment periods ranging from one to six months. The VAMCs serve nearly 3 million veterans.
Scott Streble’s portraits in these two groupings show 13 veterans he met who were receiving care at the St. Cloud VAMC. These veterans’ issues include addiction, PTSD, chronic homelessness/joblessness, psychiatric breakdowns, and anxiety/depression. Their military service extends from 1958 to the present.
