Gene, Army National Guard

After losing a living arrangement with a friend, Gene now spends much of his time near a truck stop behind a gas station as he shuffles between jobs. Gene is currently unemployed; he has been plagued with many medical problems which have made it difficult for him to find and keep employment. He has battled with addiction but despite a couple of admitted lapses, he has been free of drugs since 1982 and alcohol since 1985. “I want to improve my life, not slide backwards.”
