Rich has lived at a Duluth hotel for eight years. When Rich and his partner, Rocky, looked for a place to rent they felt they were being denied apartments because they were gay and Rocky was dying of AIDS. After sixteen years together, Rich lost Rocky to AIDS last year. Rich says the mouse and cockroach infested hotel did not help his partner’s health. On the other hand, Rich says, the hotel is one of the only places in Duluth that will rent to many of the people who live there.
