Interim Loan Program: Greater Minnesota
Housing Fund provides a variety of loan products and services
to help nonprofit
and
community-based
organizations, for-profit developers, local governments,
and public housing authorities plan, finance, and develop
affordable housing. These products include: (1) predevelopment,
(2) site acquisition, (3) construction and (4) low income
housing tax credit bridge loans. Read more ->
Single Family Development and Homeownership Loan
Program: Greater Minnesota Housing Fund provides zero- and low-interest
loans (interim and permanent) for new single family affordable
home developments. GMHF also provides grants and forgivable
loans for downpayment assistance and homeownership education
initiatives.
Multi-Family Loan Program: Greater Minnesota
Housing Fund provides
zero- and low-interest loans for new affordable rental housing
developments, primarily low-income housing tax credit projects.
GMHF also targets funding to supportive housing rental projects
with the goal of reducing chronic homelessness in Greater
Minnesota.
Rehabilitation Loan Program: Greater Minnesota
Housing Fund provides
funding to facilitate the rehabilitation of affordable rental
and owner-occupied housing for targeted projects in Greater
Minnesota. Funding is in the form of zero- or low-interest
deferred loans or grants.
Employer Assisted Housing Program: Greater
Minnesota Housing Fund
encourages employers to become involved in affordable housing
by matching their financial contributions to affordable housing
developments and down payment assistance programs. GMHF also
provides technical assistance to employers and communities
that wish to establish employer assisted housing programs.

Building Better Neighborhoods Program (BBN): Greater
Minnesota Housing Fund
stimulates the construction of single family starter homes
and the creation of vital new residential neighborhoods in
Greater Minnesota. Communities are encouraged to efficiently
use land and infrastructure, utilize economies of scale,
and implement cost saving techniques in building new affordable
homes. GMHF provides technical assistance as well as interim
and permanent project financing to participating developers

Minnesota Green Communities Initiative: Greater
Minnesota Housing Fund
provides grants and technical assistance to foster the creation
of affordable, healthier, and more energy-efficient housing
and more sustainable land use planning throughout Minnesota.
GMHF partners on this program with the Family Housing Fund

Emerging Markets Homeownership Pilot Program: Greater
Minnesota Housing Fund
has launched a pilot program to support local and regional
efforts to increase affordable and sustainable homeownership
opportunities for emerging market populations, including
households of color and Hispanic ethnicity and recent immigrants.
Housing Policy and Public Education: Greater
Minnesota Housing Fund
is committed to providing legislative advocacy and supporting
public policy options that increase affordable housing opportunities
throughout the state. GMHF educates community leaders and
policy makers on the issues surrounding affordable housing.
Educational efforts have included a traveling affordable
housing photography exhibit, publications, conferences and
convening.
Research and Development: Greater Minnesota
Housing Fund conducts
research on best practices and strategies in affordable housing
and develops programs, initiatives, public information and
educational materials based on research findings.
